One of the best manga works of all time, if not the best. The sheer amount of symbolism in this work alone is material for a master's thesis. Fairly simple Japanese, although you can find very specific vocabulary related to religion, mining, ores, etc. Although I love Fullmetal Alchemist, I'd say the beginning of the story is a bit slow and boring. But it does become super interesting with its fantastic writing, worldbuilding and characters.
FMA is a really solid adventure pick, especially for giant nerds like me who grew up with it years ago but who only hazily remember the details. The art and panelling is very clear, so any confusion that creeps in will largely be from the actual words themselves.
Language-wise it is relatively wordy for an action series and can get a little complicated, with characters that jump all over the register (the first story has a lot of religious terminology, half the cast uses a lot of scientific/mil


Chapter 3 kinda bored me a little but in general a good start, i watched brotherhood a couple years ago and seeing all the changes between manga and the anime its really cool. Language wise its kind of difficult to start with it because of the religion/alchemy words but besides that pretty understandable.
