The Absolute Beginners Book Club read this on Wanikani so there is plenty of grammar help and a vocab sheet over there.
I'm not sure that this is the ideal first book for beginners who have not read Japanese before, as it only contains kanji that first-graders would know, which is not very many kanji at all. A lack of kanji makes books a little more difficult to parse, and club members seemed to struggle most with parsing words incorrectly, telling the difference between words and grammar stru
