(4.33/5)If you're looking for a typical mystery novel: this isn't it. There is a murder, there's police officers trying to find out who did it, but solving that case really isn't the point of this novel. Instead, you get a deep dive into the main characters life philosophy. If you're looking for a philosophical case study and are ready to just completely throw disbelief at the ridiculous way the plot unfolds out of the window then this might be the book for you. I don't mean that in a sarcastic way - this book isn't trying to be realistic or make excuses, you just have to be ready to go along for the ride. I managed to get into it as I read but there were still some parts that I wasn't onboard with. Especially some of the explanation sections because they were either stating the obvious or just dumping info that couldn't have possibly been gained from previous sections (and felt like the author just tried to make things more fucked up for the sake of it). Still had an overall good time with this, as it flows well and is pretty short.
Language wise this is pretty standard, both from a grammar and a vocabulary view point, though there is a bunch of religious vocab at the beginning.

Enjoyed the ride!
A surprising book. Although I needed to work on myself a bit to forgive some of the things to the author, I enjoyed the reading all along. It had interesting characters and developments and food for thought. Not very complex language, but not the simplest either. Can recommend!
