As a note, I listened to the audiobook and did not read any of the text.
If you liked the original Medium, I suspect you'll like this. If you rolled your eyes throughout the entirety of Medium, you will get a nice stretch in this time as well.
Nothing noteworthy changed in regards to difficulty that I noticed.
Hisui, if it is possible, became even more annoying in this volume than she was before. あれれ and 納得さん! had me engaging in the aforementioned eyeball yoga. I found myself cheering on the characters that didn't like Hisui, which is probably not the author's intent but it got me through the book.
Probably more interesting than the cases to me was the relationship between Makoto and Hisui - I found their dynamic interesting and more human than the more throwaway-character feeling murder suspects.
I sound like I dislike the book because most flaws with the cases and character writing I could excuse if not for the fact I had to be reminded every few paragraphs about what a hottie Hisui is. But, I gave it 3 stars because it delivered pretty much exactly what I expected after reading Medium 🤷♀️
