The book follows six characters (three pairings) as they explore relationships in middle school. There’s 충효, who has a crush on 서영, but she’s currently preoccupied with her favorite idol group. Then you have 승호 and 다진 who become friends while going to the same hagwon after school. Finally, the story follows 진희, president of the student council, and her vice president 지평 as they plan the school’s first ever Couple’s Festival.
This is probably very biased because I'm tired books with multiple perspectives. It’s interesting at first, but these days every other book I read is written with multiple perspectives. This book is no exception. I was kind of disappointed when I was getting invested in one character’s story only to realize that we were now focusing on someone else. I didn’t know this from reading the book’s description so I’m putting this as a warning for everyone else lol. If you’re not burnt out by multiple perspectives like me, this book could be enjoyable for you 😃
The positive is that this book taught me a lot of new words. I had to read this with Kimchi Reader because there were so many unknown words. Even after I got the physical book, I sometimes had to go back to Kimchi Reader anyway when things got too hard. Thanks to that, I was able to mine A LOT of words to add to Anki.
Since the vocabulary level is not easy, I would recommend this for upper intermediate or advanced learners.
