This is basically a farce with copious amount of murder. The book starts with one simple murder, then the complexity and absurdity of the plot grows exponentially with each chapter, as do the dead bodies. None of this is treated seriously, and no character is particularly likeable or redeemable. The main character is a deluded buffoon, the police spectacularly useless, and none of the rest of the large cast fare any better. A comedy set in a detective novel
A fun, silly read which involves about as many detective/mystery tropes as the author could pack in.
The premise is that our main character, 池沢, has just killed his wife, but from there it spirals, with each chapter bringing a new problem/event/bit of drama.
At some points, I did get a bit tired of the characters, or maybe more accurately caricatures. But overful I found it a lot of fun.
On the language side, it was pretty light, I haven't read much detective/mystery stuff, but it was maybe a
