(3/5)Perfect for what it is
I'm posting this to offer my own experience, which differs a bit from the other reviewer. I read this book during 5-10 minute breaks in my day 1 story at a time, and i found it perfect for that purpose. I found myself looking forward to the next break to see what kind of story i was going to get to read today.
While not every story was equally satisfying, i still felt like every one was fun to read. Though i think if you read this at a level where you're taking close to an hour to read one, the experience might differ.
Some of the stories i still think about weeks later, considering their length i think that's quite impressive. If you have some down time during your day, where you can read one of these stories instead of scrolling on social media, i can highly recommend it. Its perfect for building a new small reading habit.
Boring Boring Boring Boring - just painful to push through (don't pick this up)
As many others have said this is mostly boring. There are a few stories in here that weren't bad but for the most part it was the most boring painful read that I can say I've picked in years (in any language). I started this book ages ago and put it down because it was so dull. Also each 5 min story would take me 45-60 min to push through. I'm a slow reader. Decided I wanted to get this one done and at least say finished purchased it electronically (which didn't realize came with 2 bonus stories) just when I thought I was done....but that said, it isn't horrible for learning practice. But given so many other options, just don't start this one.
I purchased this physically originally as a set of 5 and started with this one, the first (red) book. Supposedly the blue book isn't bad, but it's gonna be a while before I crack open one of these again. I think if I was a child, these might have held some interest but all these various stories have heard in one way or another in different forms, be it books, tv, movies, etc..... rarely was any ending actually a surprise. There was only one story in the book that actually made me laugh at the end.
