A typicall all-in-one JLPT-drill-book
This book is huge (over 500 pages) ! It is divided into 4 chapters: „Vocabulary/Kanji“, „Grammar“, „Reading“ and „Listening“ followed by two mock exams.
The first chapter "Vocabulary and Kanji" is basically just a very long list divided into 35 „days“ with 100 words per day… If you want a challenge – go for it. The vocabulary is presented in two columns: the kanji-version and the reading in Hiragana. No translations. You have to look up the translation yourself (or use their app... they do offer translation and one example sentence per word in the app). Words that are only written in Katakana will be presented in only one column obviously. No exercises between the „days“. But there are a few pages of exercises in typicall JLPT-fashion after the 35 days of horror.
If you managed to somehow survive this list (or if you skipped it like I did) you will be suprised as the rest oft he book is kinda nice. The Grammar points are gathered by topics. Similiar grammar points are usually presented in the same subchapter. Every grammar point comes with an explanation (all in Japanese) as well as three example sentence, which are really helpful. After 5-11 grammar points a few pages of JLPT-like exercises can be found. About 1/3 of the grammar is N3 level. Reading and listening sections are presented in JLPT format: Text/Dialog followed by a few questions. The dialog leans more towards N3 level than N2. The audio files can be found online and have a decent quality.
All in all- the book is a nice ressource... allthough the giant list at the start is pretty discouraging.
