(4/5)I found this to be a fun read. It's not too difficult and as a children's novel has furigana.
What makes this rather interesting is the scientific nature of the events. Not only does the titular character explain them in the story, but there are little summaries at the end of each case. These briefly explain scientific concepts and important people, making a nice change from just a simple story.
I'd say the main story is similar to きまぐれロボット in difficulty, but those extra explanations push it
Great for language learning, but science truly aimed at young kids
As most people reading this review are not children, I based my rating from the perspective of an adult language learner, despite being a children's book. As a non-child, you might find that this is a "mystery novel" with very little to no mystery. The science involved is basically common sense, except for some extra details added in the explanations. Minor spoiler: The "mysteries" are based off of scientific misunderstandings, so there are basically no hidden motives to sniff out,
