I don't know what happened, but the author suddenly really improved in this volume. While I've enjoyed the previous volumes so far, this was the first one that felt like the story truly came into its element. It's also the first one where there's some proper adventuring, rather than just farming or completing a mission. It features a second party, full of some very eccentric characters.
