This book started off annoying me, then it exasperated me, then it slowly devolved into such ridiculousness that I was a bit charmed by it. It's too stupid not to give at least 3 stars. I was definitely entertained by the last ~100 pages. Did I guess pretty much every twist? Yes, and early. Was it a ridiculous blood bath? Yes. Did the ending have me laughing, because I'm a bad person? Oh yes.
If that description doesn't turn you off - go for it, have fun. If you want something serious or something that will catch you off guard this is probably not going to scratch that itch. If you want a lovely cheery book with a happy ending where everything is alright...well, maybe don't read things labeled ホラー
For language learning I don't have much to note beyond there is some vocab stretch here. It felt a bit overwritten for the type of goofy horror it is, but I think the level it landed at here (L33 as of April 2025) is fair. Grammar is all standard novel stuff, no dialects or slang or niche vocab.
