Starts off with a bang and then goes on a slow wander as we get to know the characters and world. Story spoiler: An Isekai with a difference, the main character’s story doesn’t start in their old world but in their current one and it’s only afterwards we get to find out they were brought here after they died though it’s unclear if they reincarnated into this life at birth or went directly into another's body who had already aged a bit.
I’ve read this series in English and the Japanese version seems to have a bit more impact for me for some reason.
Typical fantasy elements; magic, races other than human including Dragonkin, Elves, Dwarves, Werewolves, Lizardmen etc. The story follows a Slave girl and her life after being saved by a Dragonkin, as indicated by the title.
Content warning: This is a mates series. Being a Dragonkin, there is an obvious age gap but as of yet there is nothing untoward (as of end of book 3 at least in the online English version) and the relationship is more like parent and child though that may change further down the line.
Language wise the grammar is about N4-N3 I feel and the vocabulary is mostly everyday stuff with some additional fantasy and crime vocab thrown in when necessary.
Entertainment wise it’s a slow mover after the initial start as we get to grips with the new life and world outside. It’s not action packed although there are action scenes that are done especially well I feel but there’s a good mix and the pacing seems decent.
