(3.71/5)Good if you know the English version
Written in full hiragana with spaces between the words.
You can read for free by watching this read aloud on YouTube: https://youtu.be/hFDjB_eTwZc?si=3Uu-lO5jhdKLSC9y
The sentences about the caterpillar eating are simple, the ones describing what happens to the caterpillar are more complex and can be hard to understand since it's written in full hiragana. Uses an emphasized ぺっこぺこ instead of ぺこぺこ for "hungry." Good for names of food, counting, days of the week.
Great first step!
If you have been learning Japanese with hiragana and katakana this is a great way to get a quick test and confidence boost for reading comprehension! It's a simple book that is in essentially every language on earth at this point, but an important step to learning is realizing you've learned something. It may sound silly but I felt incredible when I read this in the kids section of the public library!
