(3.89/5)Fun, lots of characters
So far this series just keeps improving imo. Lots of characters, more plot. Some development. More Finna POV. Good stuff. Has lots of repetition, great for language learning. At some point during this book, I started feeling like it was relaxing to read in Japanese. Which felt amazing (only took 6 books and 5 VNs to get there...).
Step up from Volume 2
A solid step up from Volume 2, there's more of a clear overarching plot to the entire volume and I think the author's skill at plotting is improving as well. Several new characters enter the picture here as Yuna explores the capitol and a lot of them are fun but some of them are underdeveloped and there can be moments of "wait, who was this again?" There's a lot of cute and memorable plotlines, I loved Yuna growing her culinary influence, the plots about stopping bandits and monsters on the path to the capitol. Even the flashback/alternate perspective chapters have gotten better at revealing new information and they don't feel like they're coming immediately after the chapter they recap anymore. Fun stuff!
As far as the language learning aspect, I feel like I've gotten accustomed to the majority of vocabulary in this series. Here moreso than before I had some really good reading sessions where I felt like I was just reading and not having to look up much, but there were still plenty of days where it felt like I had to force my brain to cooperate. Finishing is satisfying and I'm excited to see how I handle volume 4.

Like everyone's said, an improvement again over the second book.
There's a few sections where lots of people are talking and things are going on, and I found it a bit harder to read because of that. You've gotta pay close attention to people's speaking styles and the context to keep track. Overall it's just a bit harder I felt, but there's plenty of easy sections too.
I was surprised just how much the plot has come to revolve around food, but it's more interesting than the focus on monsters so that's not a complaint. The coherent arc from the start to the end of the book was nice too.
Also, in this one, somebody finally asks why Yuna is wearing the bear costume which was well overdue lol.
Straight on to the next one!
