(3/5)Plot-driven adventure
This was very much a plot and character-driven story unlike, say, 'Heaven' by the same author. I learned many details about a particular kind of struggling, poor person. I thought there wasn't any grander theme or ambition to the construction of the story. It was just an addictive, compusively readable story about a poor young girl striving to earn money.
This was an OK story. The audiobook narrator was amazing, but for such a chonky book the story doesn't have that much of a story. Focuses mostly on the main character and her descent. Only the descent doesn't go as deep as you'd expect it to (such as in Out).
Honestly, if I had know this was by the same author as "Breasts and Eggs" I wouldn't have wasted my time/money on it.
