Highly recommended for art history-oriented Japanese learners
This has been my favorite Tadoku offering so far because of its subject, Paul Jacoulet, a French artist who settled in Karuizawa during WWII. I had never heard of this artist and was delighted to learn about him.
I found the text a bit more difficult than other Tadoku books due to the specificity of the art vocabulary (painting, woodblock printing, etc.), but it remains a very accessible read, with lots of interesting images and archival photographs.
