I'm usually a really like this author's books, but this one was a miss for me. I think it's actually his debut work, so it would make sense if he hadn't yet nailed the pacing that makes his other books such quick reads for me. The plot was interesting, the characters had flesh, but the pacing, unfortunately, dragged. I recommend this author, but not necessarily this book unless the plot in particular calls to you.
For learner difficulty this book is mostly standard but you will encounter a scattering of medical terminology, specifically relating to cancer, as the MC finds out at the beginning of the book of his terminal diagnosis. Otherwise not much outside of what you'd normally expect in any other crime novel.
Fairly violent, which is to be expected of a book about serial killing. If you don't like bloody fight scenes this book is not for you.
