This is a fast-paced story with an entertaining plot. However, I found the characters (particularly Lydia, who is very easily deceived), to be frustrating at times. While Lydia's abilities as a fairy doctor were finally able to shine at the end of the book, I didn't enjoy the relationship dynamics enough to continue.

Action-packed Shoujo Romp
This was a lighthearted read with plenty of action and silliness! I didn't go in expecting too much, which I think allowed me to fully enjoy all the random twists and turns of the plot, sudden dramatic backstory reveals, and so on. Also, there's a talking cat.
Recommend if you need a lighthearted read to take your mind off things!

Fairy doctor Lydia lives a quiet life in the English countryside, doing her best to peddle her expertise as a bridge between humans and fairies to townspeople who can't see and don't believe in fairies. Enter Edgar,a dashing and handsome young Earl who needs Lydia's help to find a lost family fairy heirloom. Toss in a bit of "who is Edgar really?" and some bad guys chasing them, and you have the perfect setup for a fun, exciting read.
Lydia's a kind-hearted girl with a good head on her shoulders, a good match for Edgar's charm and suaveness, and I thought this first volume did a great job establishing their relationship. This is the kind of series that, if I had been able to read it in English when I was younger, I would've absolutely devoured and left no crumbs. As it is, I'm extremely excited to read more in the series and see what new adventures the two get up to!
Because this is a such a fast-paced book, the language is generally quite direct and easy to envision. There's partial furigana and a good amount of dialogue, making this is a good choice for intermediate readers looking for a light, fun read.
