I couldn't get into the characters or story development, but even in the one volume I learned quite a bit about Japanese sweets!
The main character is the son of a sweet shop owner. He knows a lot about all kinds of sweets, but has no real interest in joining the family business. Suddenly this girl shows up, with a lot of interest in sweets, but not a lot of common sense. Hijinks ensue. The chapters are very episodic.
