If you're on a mission to collect idioms and somewhat uncommon vocab, this may be worth it for you. If you want a good story I recommend something else.
The characters mostly fell flat for me and I didn't find myself liking or caring about the majority of them. The plot development was uneven, starting slow, suddenly throwing a bunch of murders at you, slowing down to a crawl again, and then giving a weak and ridiculous conclusion. I did not enjoy the writer’s style of using more than necessary number of words to state the obvious. There are also lots repetition of the useless stuff such as The Book, and the abstract idea of how great it is. Maybe a mathematician will appreciate all that.
