Consent is not what author thinks but audiobook is great
Learning (audiobook only)
I really enjoyed the tempo of the audiobook. It's about 5.5 hours long with a male reader which suits great to all those awful men that need to be voiced here. The main part of the story is sort of territory management / going to events and not what I'm going to write below. Good banter between the MC and her father in law, questionable relationship with the husband. Some military and nobility vocab expected from the genre increase the difficulty.
The relationship between the main couple.
A strong willful female MC gets roped into a marriage with a military guy that needed it for promotion. They didn't see each other even once for 8 years and the story starts there, with her writing him a letter asking for divorce.
The husband comes back from the war, finds bad rumors about her and believes them. He proposes a bet - "I will be embracing you for a month. If you don't get pregnant, we will divorce as you wish. If you will, we'll stay married forever". This... idea comes to him because he assumes that she (1) sleeps around and managed to avoid getting pregnant as-is (2) sleeps around with his father (3) challenged him somehow with her letter. From this point on, he says "you have agreed to this, so now you can't refuse" a couple of times so there's that. I'm curious how author is planning to salvage this (and whether or not there are plans beside "sex felt so good I guess it's fine") so I'll continue to the next volume, but oh boy the guy is not impressing me.
