Some parts didn't fit and were way too extended
One of the grips I had with the first volume is partially solved. The fast time pacing is slowed down and now it feels more natural.
The book itself still feels like someone's Diary, with some random bits from the point of view of the other characters. It might not be a thing everyone likes, but I do find it enjoyable as a different kind of narrative.
This volume suffers from over-introduction of characters. You can get easily lost in the sea of names. So much that I had to look up the chart at the end of the volume from time to time, and that's not ideal.
Also the tournament part (almost a whole chapter), I skimmed over it. I found extremely dull and not fit for the series. I wonder if it will be a recurring thing or just an experiment the author made.
As for where the series is headed, I think it might evolve into something better, and I'm going to give Volume 3 a chance.
