We do in fact get to see the characters age a bit more, and the story becomes more clearly a romance, mixed with coming of age. That was handled very tastefully, and it read nice to read an age gap that didn't make me tense.
My only really disappointment (as with many yuri series) is that this volume was the end. I would have liked to see it go on for another volume or two
