You're going on a train trip at the turn of the century to 1900, but this world is different to our historical world. The setting and events are very imaginative - I was hooked from the start and it delivered all the way through. It's how the characters interact with each other and their environment that makes this book such a treat. It's the kind of book after you read it that you want to talk about with someone. The more I think about it the more I believe it asks the reader to ponder a philosophical question relevant to our times, you discover the question as you read.
I don't want to spoil anything. I think it's best to go in blind and experience the voyage with the passengers in the book.
The best book I've read in a long time.
I hope my review does it justice.
It was originally written in English so this is a translation. The translation is very well done.
