[DeepL Translation - needs review] Before going to sleep, the lizard has a habit of pressing his nose hard against my chest. He likes delivery pizza and is not good at talking to people. I enjoyed this collection of 6 short stories about love and relationships. I love Yoshimoto Banana's writing and this was beautifully done as usual. I liked some stories better than others, but I thought that they all offered different perspectives and ideas. Japanese-wise, this uses simple vocabulary but requires a solid base of reading experience in order to understand the nuance present in Yoshimoto's writing. Recommended if you like her work and want to explore short stories.

Thoughtful reflections on love and relationships
Banana Yoshimoto's strength is in the subtlety of her writing: she is never overblown, and often draws in interesting elements for reflections on relationships. However, the reflective nature of this book makes it hard for a language learner to read as there is less narrative action. I certainly missed points on which the stories turned, although the constructions weren't especially complex.
