(4.60/5)A masterpiece that goes way more in depth than the movie
If you have come here after watching the absolute masterpiece that is the 聲の形 movie, I am here to tell you the manga is just as amazing. At times heartwarming and at other times heart-wrenching, this emotional rollercoaster of a manga will keep you hooked. Real-world setting plus has furigana, so would definitely recommend to those who are at a more beginner level.
entertain series and good for learning
聲の形 is a deep story with the highest of high’s and low low’s. That being said I think it is the perfect length and a must read for those learning Japanese through reading manga.
The vocabulary has a lot to do with every day life. That being said there are also some low frequency words that the author uses often. I would see a word I didn’t know, only to look it up and see it’s a synonym of a word I did know.
The grammar isn’t too difficult. I would recommend attaining an n3. I attempted this at first about a year and a half before passing n3 and it was doable but took longer and there was a bit more grammar constructions that gave me trouble
This is a very engaging series if you’re looking for something fun to read. It is also very good studying material for around an n3 level.

Difficult if you don't know the storyline
This manga was a lot harder than other books and manga I've read at a similar or even higher level. The author uses a lot more complex words to express simpler concepts. I can imagine that many find this manga approachable due to their familiarity with the film. However, if this isn't you, then I'd put this closer to level 24-26 than the meager level 22 it's been given.
