edit

[DeepL Translation - needs review] Volume 1: A love comedy about a clumsy romance between two otaku, Narumi, an office worker who is a secret rotten girl, and Hirotaka, a good-looking, competent, but serious game-otaku. The long-awaited book version of this very popular work, which ranked first in the "Web manga category" of the "Next Comic Award 2014" and first in the number of original comic bookmarks on pixiv, is now available in book form with many newly illustrated stories.

This is a really fun series, with interesting and lovable characters. I was invested in them both as individual, and as a pairing. I also appreciated that it was about working adults and not students.

The language is full of game slang as well as animanga slang, especially regarding fandom slang, which means it could be difficult to understand sometimes and required more digging than just jisho. Sometimes I only found the meaning of the word by using Japanese websites with no English translatio

I read this as part of a book club on Discord, and it was a really good pick! As someone who probably knows way too much English internet slang it was fun to dive into the language and references otaku make in Japanese - but this will definitely be the biggest challenge for readers.

Personally I didn't find either of the romances that compelling which is why I only give it 3 stars, but I know a lot of people love it!
