Blurb
[DeepL Translation - needs review] This novel by Tatsuo Hori, a novelist active in the early Showa period, was written in 1923, when Tatsuo Hori contracted tuberculosis at the age of 19. This work was written based on his experience of several months in a sanatorium in Shinshu, accompanying his fiancée, who was more seriously ill, while he himself was ill. It was highly praised for its clear and pure poetic sentiment, which celebrates the eternal life and love that exists beyond death.

I find it a half-emotional read. Worthwhile or not, I am not sure, but it’s worthwhile to read something challenging once in a while. The somewhat emotional part made it more worthwhile to read. But, difficult from linguistic point of view, indeed.
Maybe I can read more on the same theme, but maybe try a different author. Also maybe other historical works.
