Fun start to a seemingly light-hearted detective series
鏡キズナ, an empath so strong his targets can overwhelm and take over his emotions, works with his partner 御堂眞矢 (みどう•まや) as a detective duo, taking on cases no one else will take. In this volume, that means taking on a case from a high school student who wants then to track down a popular online idol. This seems like it's going to be something of a fun and breezy series of quick detective cases, perhaps with a bit of dark past sprinkled in. キズナ is a generally bubbly guy who can take on many different roles depending on who he "links" with, and 眞矢 acts as an all-purpose scout and muscle. They've got a good relationship, to the point where I can't tell if the author author's willing to commit to the chemistry or leave them forever as BL bait.
This was mostly an easy read; full furigana, and specific detective terms are defined when they first appear as footnotes. Scene changes are rather abrupt and tend to dump you in the middle of conversations, so there can be a touch of whiplash when that happens, but overall there was nothing too bad. Some occasional business jargon was the worst of it I remember.
