Easy reading, but a little on the long side
Conscientious, good girl Akane hides behind her mask (literally). Free-wheeling, says-what-he-thinks Seiji can’t stand her forced smiles and polite evasiveness. Forced together by school seating arrangements, the new school term is looking particularly bleak for the painfully self-conscious Akane, but the two students gradually become closer and Seiji teaches her a different way to be in the world as well as gifting her back her younger, freer self.
The language and grammar are on the easy side. I felt the last part dragged a little and was basically unnecessary.
The accompanying audiobook is good and the female reader does a decent job of representing the various characters, including the male ones.
