Points for having a pretty interesting world. 6 countries (composing of various fantasy races like vampires, half animal people and the like) each have a magic seed that allows all of their citizens to regenerate from injuries and even death as long as they are within its area of effect. These countries have their armies fight each other in a small area where that area of effect overlaps for them. These battles are effectively for sport and prestige as everyone will ressurect or heal their injuries. Something about this reminds of Warhammer fantasy or something. Unfortunately I have to take the points back for the setting isn't elaborated on too much in this book, perhaps there's more in the sequel books (I hope).
Our main character Terakomori who has been a hikikomori for 3 years when her father pulls some strings with the emperor of the vampire empire and gets her a job. The job turns out to be the commander of one of the countries armies. Hijinks ensue as she is very unqualified for the position.
When I read the description for this book I was hopeful for some more scenes of Komori and her army actually fighting battles, employing strategies and murdering guys. I'd just finished watching Galactic Heroes so I had my fingers crossed there'd those kind of strategic battles. Unfortunately, you don't get to see too much of this, it gets relegated to the background and when you do get to see it, it's usually just at the end of the battle. I'm hoping that there'll be more detail to these battle in the future.
This wasn't super tricky to read or anything, no language that was especially out of place for books like this.
If you think you might like a hikikomori coming out of their shell story set in a warhammer esque world, with a good dose of wacky anime hijinks then I think this does a pretty decent job.
