(4.09/5)Just boring, man.
This is the first books in a long time I've had to DNF. I don't like doing that to books, especially ones I paid for.
The characters are flat and uninteresting, none of the jokes made me laugh, and I got 80 pages in with basically nothing happening. It shouldn't take more than 80 pages for a book to hook you in.
I got too little time to be reading stories that don't interest me. Maybe if you like isekai tropes then go ahead.
Good, but not as good as the anime
Entertainment: I saw the anime first and liked it, which is why I wanted to read the LN. I have to say however that the voice acting and the funny faces of the animated characters add a lot. The LN is not bad at all, but for once it is the inferior product. Those hoping to find anything not covered in the anime will also be disappointed as the content is really mostly identical. Still a fun read, but if you are a fan of the anime don't expect anything new here. 3.5/5 stars, but I'll round up.
Language Learning: I have read ~20 books now and this was not difficult for me anymore, but for a complete beginner I think it would be quite difficult. Having said that, it's all pretty useful vocabulary and the use of kanji here felt just right.
Terrible
This book was actually quite a breezy read. However, it was terrible. I hated every character in it and reading it made me want to smash my head against the table. The situations were unrelatable and the characters were flat and annoying. This is one of the first books I have DNF'ed in a long time, usually I finish books even if they are trash but this one was so bad I had to stop it before it made me despise reading for the rest of my life.
The story follows Satou Kazuma an average Neet and his party, A useless Goddess Aqua who does nothing except spending money and crying, An archwizard who knows only one spell which is basically a nuclear bomb that she can use once a day before collapsing, And a masochist knightess who can't hit anything, The dynamics of this party is amazing and all the characters are relatable in a certain way.
Now in terms of language learning Most of the vocabulary is useful and I felt like the heavy vocabulary were laid out perfectly, I never felt that there was a part that's more difficult than the others. Also a lot of vocabulary is repeated a lot.
The grammar is really simple, And the novel didn't feel too literacy like where the words are hardly used in spoken language, Most of the novel is just speaking between characters, Or the main character explaining the scene in his head.
The chapters aren't that long and they are laid into shorter parts, This is great if you can't keep reading for a long time.
I also like how it doesn't feel like the other Isekais where the hero is a loser but gets better, Here the hero is a loser who evolves into poor loser.
Definitely would recommend.
It was really good, I think this would be a safe choice for a first ~N2 novel, easy vocabulary all over the book, the grammar isn't too hard either, it was already mentioned but the readings are repeated quite often for less common words which is appreciated.
The story line is quite easy and the sub chapters if you can call them this way are rather short and although it follows the same plot line throughout the book it almost feels like a collection of short stories, which could be a plus for those that can't read long plot lines yet, so I'd say it really is beginner friendly.
Overall I think this could be the go-to book for those that already read some novels in the past and are looking for harder novels to get started with the L30+ range.
I watched the anime around 8 years ago or more so I didn't remember much...
This was really nice ! The story really starts to get you in from the second half, so don't give up before !
In the first half to be honest, I felt like there could be more descriptions, but the second half catched this up !
In terms of language used, it's not too difficult (from the point of view of someone having JLPT N2), and a lot of words come back often enough.
If you're used to isekai, you won't have any problems !

Almost as good as the anime.
This was my first book in japanese and im still a begginer around n3 probably so it was fucking brutal to me in terms of lenguage learning but im a huge fan of the anime so i read the Damn book 3 times in a row, in terms of entertainment is really good to me is true that is not to far from the anime plot wise but expand in some parts like the encounter with certain liche and the character are well written and the jokes are great, with that said if you dont like the anime you are gonna hate the book since is almost the same.
