Out of the 2 Nihongo fun & easy books, I preferred this one. Possibly because it didn’t need a second person to complete a lot of it since it was mostly questions and answers with grammar explanations for each grammar point.
It covers a fair amount in such a small book but is geared for beginners (N5-N4 though it doesn’t cover everything). Gives a good basic understanding of grammar and you learn particles in context.
Good for a refresher or someone who already has a fair amount of everyday vocabulary and is just starting to look at grammar. There are no vocabulary lists with definitions in this book that I could find though you can work it out from the example sentences. The conjugation charts though you either need to recognize the kanji or the word from the furigana or look it up. Most are everyday vocabulary and pretty common words.
3 stars for entertainment because it kept me focused but there’s no running story or anecdotes or such, just examples, explanations and little snippets of conversation. A decent book overall though, and it should give you a solid base to work up from.
