Genre? Who Knows Her?
I probably wouldn't have read this series/volume if it hadn't been available for free on the Jump+ app. After completing it, I still wouldn't be willing to pay money for it.
It's a very middling story. It initially sells itself as a comedy, gyaru meets Dracula's kid. He's a sort of blood vegetarian. Antics ensue. A decent length into the manga, it seems to shift from comedy to more romance, so if you don't like romance, I can't see this as a good match. There's also a hint of possible drama genre, but we'll see in later volumes if that holds true.
As for the language, it's a pain in the ass. The gyaru speaks in a really slangy way with references to various other anime and manga and with lots of contractions. On the other hand, another character speaks in a pretty elevated and possibly archaic way. Additionally, there's no furigana.
Altogether, I don't think this is a particularly useful volume/series for learners and that even as entertainment, it's mid.
Edit post Vol 3: it definitely turns into more romance and drama. It’s not bad and has an alright ending. As for the language, pretty much every character has their own speaking style, which is pretty annoying to switch gears so much. I don’t think I’d recommend it as reading entertainment, but it is a nice time killer if you’re bored.
