It was pretty clear that the mangaka had to wrap things up quickly due to being cancelled.
On the one hand, it's a shame because I really enjoyed many parts of it, for example the fine-art-aesthetics leaning drawing style was really great to see outside of Yotsuba and the slice-of-life parts were engaging, relatable, interesting, but still also chill. The characters were strong, fun, and funny.
On the other hand, I can still kind of see why it was cancelled. The story is strangely meandering. Maybe less so in this volume than in volume 2? But at one point I was like "あれ? I thought Haru and Fuyu were the main characters?" Because I hadn't seen them for multiple chapters in a row. That was fine (for me) for the chapters that centered on Haru's friends, but in addition to that there were also full-chapter flashbacks to the friends' childhoods (still fine for me) and then also full chapters of the teachers and older sister just hanging out (not interesting to me as they were the weakest characters).
Anyway, I wanted to give it four stars, but from a more objective standpoint three is probably fair? It was still super worth it for me and I would still definitely recommend it, just probably not to anyone who has an intense need for plot development.
I would absolutely love to see what this mangaka comes up with next ... I hope they don't give up!
