空ろの箱と零のマリア is one of the most highly rated LN series on both MAL and AniList. From those ratings, and a premise that caught my interest, I was very excited to read this series. Sadly, after reading the first book, it does not live up to expectations.
From a content perspective, there are just no payoffs. The "mystery" central to the plot isn't that interesting. The twists feel arbitrary, without any reasonable amount of foreshadowing or explanation. And the conclusion is unsatisfying. There's n

This one just feel aggressively "Light Novel" in the worst way possible. Honesty, if you told me that this was some 14-year-old's first web novel, I'd believe you.
The language is pretty easy, but don't force yourself to get through this piece of garbage for the sake of learning. How this is so highly rated on MAL/Anilist is beyond me...
