(4.18/5)A must read for anyone who's ever worked in an office
Higashiyama Yui is the protagonist, and she is determined to go home on time! However that's not easy in Japan's business culture, and this book perfectly portrays the ups and downs of office life. It's funny and relatable. Some of the dialogue uses slang or keigo, but it's not impossible by any means. I think this would be a book most people could relate to and enjoy.
Higashiyama Yui's golden rule is that she goes home on time. No over time! However she works at a company where unpaid und unrecorded overtime is expected and her coworkers seem even excited about giving all their life to this company.
All the things I liked about the story initially like the dark humor and the social commentary were very strong throughout the entire book. The way the drama further unfolded among the characters and the eventual conclusion was really well written and I enjoyed i
A story about Japanese business culture and overwork. It's an enjoyable read, but there were absolutely moments where I wanted to yell at the characters.
I agree with Niffer, it's a good book if you want to see some of the N2 grammar and vocab in context.
Interesting story + Good for 会社 vocab
Good read for anyone who works in an office under a supervisor, and anyone who wants to learn words relating to the office, project management, or IT / website development.
It paints a real picture of the work culture in Japan, to the point where it almost feels like fiction. If you work in Japan or are planning on it, this book is worth a read.
