(4.60/5)Great for language learners to get your feet wet when starting reading. There are a couple really short stories (last one has multiple short "chapters" though) with cute illustrations. After each story follows some new vocabulary and 4 questions about the content which is a nice exercise. After that you can read the same story with english translation line by line - this part I usually skipped, but helpful to doublecheck your understanding.
Overall I quite enjoyed it as it doesn't feel overwhelming to get started. Don't expect exciting stories though. ^^°
This series is just the best for beginners
Short, sweet, easy to understand stories that really boost your confidence in reading as an absolute beginner. My review will be the same for all of the books in this series because they were just incredibly useful. It's been a while since I've read them and they wouldn't really be useful to me anymore, but I still remember how fulfilled I felt after finishing them.
Really enjoyed the stories but they were quite simple so good for beginners. I appreciated some of the furigana but would have liked it to be shown for the word the first time and then be hidden for subsequent instances. But overall a very good and quick read
Great First Book!
Great first book for anyone trying to learn Japanese. I learned a lot of grammar and vocabulary without it ever feeling too hard. Lots of great educational value. The stories are fine, but I think they’re as good as you can get at this level.

Perfect for getting started with reading!
Haven’t read any Japanese in years and this was a great place to start from again. The furigana was appreciated
