It's fun enough. It's obviously written for a younger audience, so it's pretty easy to follow. Felt like it spent a long time on setup, but once you get about halfway it becomes pretty engaging. (It could also just be that I zoned out and missed the point at parts of the beginning.) You follow a 13-year-old boy named Max, who moves to a new home with his family. Weird things start happening, and him, his sister, and his new friend try to find out why.
It's set near the sea, so I picked up a lot of little new-to-me terms around that, like shore, shipwreck, bay, and scubadiving.
I thought the author repeated terms a bit much. I'd see a slightly uncommon generic word, and then see it repeated again a few pages or even paragraphs later. And he likes to use the word for 'murmur' a lot through the whole book. It's odd - a little distracting and kind of annoying from a writing style perspective, but from a language learning perspective, you really want repetition.
