Here's what I think are the best first manga to try. I prefer less slang and more descriptive sentences (slightly harder vocabulary), so some of my choices go against the grain..
I think this one is the best! Engaging, more straightforward sentences than Yotsuba, even if there's more difficult vocabulary and one or two passages in dialect.

Spooky & the easiest sentences you'll find! The only issue - no furigana, ugh. But if that doesn't deter you, I highly recommend. The sentences are so easy.

This one is probably the most controversial, but I think it's quite easy, especially with the WaniKani club vocab sheet. The difficulty here is once again vocab, but the sentences are really straight forward

This was my very first manga, and it gave me the confidence to continue reading much harder stuff after the first two volumes. Straightforward language and everyday vocabulary make this one a good first choice, I think.
