A bunch of stories that have idol themes in someway or another that I would recommend. The list is in no particular order.
A story about a girl who has been training to be an idol her entire life. She has all the skills but lacks expressiveness in her performances. A judge grades her with a 0 in the expressive category and tells her to go experience life in order to improve. The story ends up being much more romance focused but the idol themes are still there. It is also yuri.

An inexperienced producer gets his first job taking over the 第3芸能課 which features idols all under 149cm. The story is generally lighthearted but there are serious moments too. Explores the difficulties of trying to find work for idols of that age. It is fun to see both the idols and producer grow together.

IDOL×IDOL STORY!
Book Series
Level 24
A former idol now working at a コンビニ gets encouraged by one of her former fans who is now an idol to give her dream another try. She joins a "survival idol audition" competition where thousands of people compete in hopes of being one of the final few selected to form an idol group with the company sponsoring the event. Might have yuri later on but no romance focus so far. Some of the best art I've ever seen in a manga. Same author from the New Game manga.

アイカツ! S1
TV Season
Level 22
An incredibly fun show that will make you smile nonstop. Ichigo becomes interested in idols after her friend Aoi invites her to a concert. After that they join an idol academy and they work on becoming the top idol. The show moves at the same pace as real life (one week irl between each episodes air date was one week in the timeline of the show) so you get to watch all of the girls grow up from a first year onwards and try to achieve their dreams. There's a 1-2 minute performance in nearly every single episode. Definitely a show for idol fans.
