One hell of a slow burn, and an amazing fantasy story. My all-time favorite manga series!

Does both the sports and the romance well (I don't usually like sports). Well paced, organic characters, a bit unpredictable. Makes good (and sparse) use of misunderstandings, and is very sparse on backstory scenes. You get to see the main characters (or their teams) fail from time to time, but it's taken as 当然, instead of some sort of earth-shattering failure, most of the time.

Hilarious harem with great characters and development (I don't usually like harems... actually it's the only one I have in my books!). Has a full color edition, and an amazing anime adaptation!

Favorite yuri! Very original
Super cute, fast paced, wholesome yuri - in full color!! It's not a "will they or won't they" story, nor a "we have to keep it a secret story", but a story of two college girls with a very wonderful relationship. Lots of 胸がドキドキ moments! The two leads really shine through, and don't shy away from physical or emotional intimacy (within reason). The one catch is, they both have a secret about their past they're hiding from each other.

This one's really キュンキュン sometimes very sweet, and often very heartwrenching

A girl who's looking for something to do with her life, and a bookworm who misses being around other bookworms. A chance encounters leads them to bond over a book. A friendship (or more?) between them starts to bloom, as they each find a part of themselves to share with each other.

The two leads are cute. The bookworm kinda reminds me of Yuna from Pink Lemonade, and the story is wholesome.

Set in Nagahama, Ehime , and it does an amazing job with portraying this, both with beautiful locations (many are real-world places) and the Iyo dialect. The two leads are cute. The bookworm kinda reminds me of Yuna from Pink Lemonade, and the story is wholesome.

Note: it's debatable whether this fits into romance or not, but I love it, so included it anyway

Fun romantic comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously, but also isn't exaggerated and unbelievable. The drama is pretty minor and nicely resolved. Main couple are sweet, awkward, and well matched. Side note: I absolutely adore the otaku younger sister.

I was torn on whether to include this. The story gets the couple together almost from the start, which is nice. There's a lot to love, but as time goes on, you also get the more toxic side of Hori and Miyamura's relationship (mostly Hori), which really soured me on it. Over time I found myself much more invested in the extensive side cast, who are all very enjoyable.

Great slow burn that gets more and more interesting as it goes. The characters, relationships, families, settings, etc are very organic and believable. They're very self-aware, respectful, levelheaded, and caring, while still making mistakes, having challenges, etc. Overall, it's a very refreshing read that avoids cliches. It also has lots of healthy relationships.

Kirito and Asuna are such a wonderful couple. While its genre isn't romance per se, I felt like I should include them. Note: this is more of a series recommendation... the first two books have some stories where they're together, and from book 3 onward, they're the "one true couple" for the entire series. The story of Kirito and Asuna making their way through Aincrad, floor by floor, long before they became an official couple. Has a lot more of Asuna's perspective than the main series (probably like 60/40 in most books), and their interactions are really fun. It's inspiring watching them grow together. While we won't see them as an official couple in this series, it's clear the romance is there
