After failing his university entrance exam, Yuki Hirano sets his eyes on the role of a forestry trainee. Setting off for training he doubts his decision many times, but eventually after passing the training course, he is sent to Kamusari Village for a year of work experience - where he becomes assimilated with the beauty of nature and the warm-hearted people of the village.

my favourite Japanese movie so far, so lighthearted
The starting point of this movie was somewhat relatable to me. As a young person I also struggle a lot with my identity and what my goals in life are, what I want.
In the case of the protagonist of this movie, he just ended up somewhere in the deep foresty japanese mountains just because he liked the girl on this random job pamphlet. And even though he seemed to not fit into this place he eventually found meaning and something he wants to do. What a happy fool.
