Blurb
In the final months of World War II, 14-year-old Seita and his sister Setsuko are orphaned when their mother is killed during an air raid in Kobe, Japan. After a falling out with their aunt, they move into an abandoned bomb shelter. With no surviving relatives and their emergency rations depleted, Seita and Setsuko struggle to survive.

One of the best anti-war films ever made
This story is heartbreaking. It hurts to see children suffer like this. This animated film was inspired by a book that recounts the author's real experiences during WW2 in Kobe/Nishinomiya. We follow our 2 main characters, 2 children, as they do their best to survive amid constant bombing. Once more, Isao Tahakata directs a masterpiece that everyone should watch at least once in their lives. As for the language, the vocabulary isn't overwhelming, but it leans heavily on older Kansai-ben. Even as
