Wattpad fanfic vibes with horrible characters

For a book about the importance of human connection the characters are actually insufferable.

The book insists on hammering the fact that Sakura is truly a social butterfly and a natural at human connection but she just steamrolls the mc and actively causes misunderstandings that result in him being more isolated from his peers. She (and the other side characters) are flat and boring with the only characteristics they actually show being obnoxiousness and selfishness. The story is essentially just the mc who is a bit unconventional but content being bullied until he changes his personality imo

The twist toward the end made absolutely no sense and destroyed any sort of meaning the author was working toward. It feels as though the author just wanted to take all the classic elements of a sad ya romance story and slapped them together clumsily. This did not read like an actual novel but more like a wattpad manic pixie dream girl self-insert story.

In terms of language level I’d say it’s N2 with no particularly difficult grammar points. The few difficult vocab words tend to be repeated so all in all it is a simple read
