I got a laugh from this line:

衛生第一、然し味は、まことに貧弱な、アメリカ式の料理（料理という名も附けたくない）

but otherwise this wasn't too exciting for me. It's a somewhat interesting look at post-war food trends. I'm not entirely sure when it was written as while Aozora lists the first date of publication as 1995, the author died in 1961 🤔

Grammar wise this isn't that bad, but a few call outs:

  • Lots of old kanji. Oodles. You'll want to be either comfortable with those or following along with a 朗読
  • Huge amount of food words. If you don't know the names of foods, prepare to learn some.

But overall one of the more forgettable Aozora short stories I've read.
