3rd volume following a high school student reconnecting with his childhood friend at the same time as she comes out as a trans girl.
I was really worried about this volume given that the cover character is the prominent transphobic character from vol1 but I loved it! I would’ve liked to have seen a continuation on Ushio trying out other first person pronouns that started in the 2nd volume I believe. The use of illustrations was fantastic in this one, it’s always great when the illustrations feel like they’re actually adding something to the experience. There were one or two difficult spots language wise but the pacing of this volume was super tight. I cant wait for the next volume now.
Ending spoilers Arisa apologises for being the worst but it’s made extremely clear that Ushio does NOT have to forgive her for everything she’s done to her and nobody expects her to. I think overall it was handled really well and it’ll be nice to see her changing more in the future. There is a surprise reveal at the end where Mashima says she didn’t actually get shoved down the stairs by Arisa but I’m just hoping that gets ignored later on bc it was kinda stupid
