People? In my cat manga? It's more likely than you think.
I stopped reading around this volume. The story went to being cat focused to so people focused, I got bored and tired of it. When I say people focused, I mean that it got to soap opera plotlines people focused. I could have stood it being more typical cat stories, but if I wanted to read about human drama, I would have picked manga that don't feature cats as the frontrunners.
Overall, as far as learning goes, it's a good read. The main guy, as you've probably figured out, speaks in a really clear way and the other characters' speech isn't overly marked by dialect or slang (excluding neko-ben). The story's pretty easy to follow and fairly straight forward, so you can rely on the pictures to reinforce the content of the words. The main downside language-wise I would say is that you often pick up a lot of cat words that aren't really useful irl.
