This is a children's adaptation of the first few Arsène Lupin stories by Maurice Leblanc. The stories included are "Arsène Lupin in Prison" and "The Escape of Arsène Lupin," both of which are from the book Arsène Lupin, gentleman-cambrioleur (titled The Extraordinary Adventures of Arsene Lupin in English). The Arsène Lupin novels were the inspiration for the manga series Lupin III by Monkey Punch, which were made into several TV series and movies including Hayao Miyazaki's The Castle of Cagliostro.
As with other books in this series, the font is gigantic and easy to read, all kanji have furigana, and a few footnotes are included to explain unusual vocabulary. Scenes in which characters are explaining some convoluted scheme can be a bit tricky and require careful reading to understand completely, but otherwise the text is as easy any other children's book at this level.
The stories are heavily abridged but still enjoyable due to the cheerfully shameless main character and his audacious capers.
