If you want to read an easy manga and like “Cute Girls Doing Cute Thing” type of stories, you’ll definitely enjoy your time with オオカミちゃん! The plot is very simple and most unknown vocabulary you’ll probably be able to guess the meaning when you look at the pictures. I was half way through Genki 1 when I picked this up, and it was about the perfect level for me!
Like any story, though, the beginning vocabulary will take a while to get, especially since Ookami-chan’s goals / work cover the sort of vocabulary I’d doubt you'd learn at a very early level on your own. (unless you have very specific interests?) But since those stay pretty much the same throughout this, you’ll be able to get a grasp of it quickly and it’ll get way easier to identify what she’s talking about past the first chapter!
You probably won't gain too much in language learning if you've already read a couple of slice of life manga, but as a first one it's very good for introducing terms in a comprehensible way and repeating most common terms later on.
Speaking of beginner vocab, the first page is a bit hard compared to the rest of the manga. Feel free to skip or to just read someone else’s translations if you get stuck. The rest of it will be way easier!
It's also extremely adorable! Even when I felt like “Agh… I’m not in the mood, so I’ll just read one panel today.” The cuteness got to me, and I would end up reading at least a full page if not more! (and if you feel the same and want to read something similar, I find the けものフレンズコミックアラカルト comics are around the same level of difficulty (with the exception of having more speech quirks) and have a lot of the same kemonomimi cuteness!)
Very cute beginner's manga!
